chiropractic for athletes & performing artists
at groove chiropractic in vancouver WA, dr. cydney Keller Brinson bridges the gap between chiropractic care, dance medicine, and performance optimization.
Injuries can happen to students, pre-professionals, professionals, weekend warriors, and people with repetitive daily activities. Dr. Cydney is highly trained in assessing and creating a treatment plan for conditions like sprains, strains, overuse & repetitive motion injuries, and even supporting areas AROUND fractures and stress fractures to help optimize recovery.
Dr. Cydney has always had a love for movement. She started dance classes at the age of three (after a year or so before that of putting on Mom's 'fancy shoes' and twirling around the living room to the Nutcracker on OPB or a Beethoven record!). She has worked with professional, pre-professional, and youth dancers and instructors, and helped professional musicians, yoga students and teachers, and visual artists. She also played youth basketball and softball, and played in a co-ed slow pitch softball league in Portland during graduate school. She has volunteered at 5k races, and treated patients during preparation and recovery for century rides, marathons, and semiprofessional sports matches. Now she primarily gets her movement 'fix' at Full Force Fitness, the Do Better Studio, the Underground Movement Studio, and YogaSix in Vancouver, WA.
Her continuing education includes courses presented by the American Chiropractic Association Rehab Council, the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science, and industry experts including Gray Cook, Stu McGill, and Kelly Starrett. She prioritizes continuing education that emphasizes hands-on learning.
She is passionate about helping people prioritize the health of their feet and ankles using footwear, exercise, and recovery tools. She is knowledgeable in foot and ankle rehabilitative strategies, partially through her own journey with chronic repetitive injuries.

What sets Groove apart from other dance and sports chiropractic offices in the area?
Dr. Cydney spends up to one hour with each new patient, and up to 30 minutes during most follow up appointments, ensuring time for thorough, relevant examinations and personalization of each care plan.
There are no open floor plans with patients being treated right next to one another.
You'll receive management strategies to use while you are OUTSIDE of the office, which is where Dr. Cydney hopes to help you spend more time- living life, playing your sport, loving your art, and enjoying family time!
She is experienced collaborating with PTs, massage therapists, trainers, and physicians, and provides vetted recommendations as appropriate.
She understands the biomechanical demands of physical and artistic activity, and instead of telling you to stop doing what you love, she will assess your symptoms and conduct a thorough examination to try to determine the limiting movements and/or tissues.
She 'speaks the language': Do you have pain in attitude derriere? Does only your overhand tennis serve cause shoulder pain? Let's find a way to modify the mechanics to better access those positions and ranges. If she is unfamiliar with the specifics of your art or sport, she will ask questions and not let ego get in the way of helping you.
Dr. Cydney invests time in continuing education that strengthens her ability to provide culturally competent care to LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and other commonly marginalized groups.
Dr. Cydney knows what it's like to be a student-athlete. She is also currently experiencing life after 25, and understands firsthand how aging can challenge the ideas you might have had about activity preparation and recovery.
